Sometimes, teenagers need a higher level of care. The Forum offers an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for teens who require advanced treatment tailored to their needs. At our adolescent IOP program, patients between the ages of 12 and 17 can recover from mental illness, substance use disorders, and more.
Flexible, intensive treatment for teens
IOP is an advanced level of care. Think of it as more rigorous than regular therapy sessions and more relaxed than an inpatient program. When teenagers are grappling with severe mental illness or a serious substance use disorder, they require intensive treatment multiple times per week. We aim to provide this care while collaborating with family members in order to keep teens in their homes during the process. Our flexible approach means that you can make appointments that work for your schedule (and your teen’s).
What to Expect
While in our program, your teen will address the issues in their lives. They’ll also learn skills like emotional regulation, cognitive flexibility, relapse prevention, self-esteem, communication, and mindfulness. The Forum’s comprehensive therapies for IOP include:
- Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT)
- Group therapy sessions
- Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)
- Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT)
- Psychodynamic therapy
The Forum specializes in evidence-based care. That means that our treatment approach is science-backed and designed specifically for the adolescent population. We’ve also built a diverse team of experts who focus on unique aspects of mental health and behavioral health. This allows us to meet the diverse needs of teens throughout the San Diego area.
Intensive therapy & effective results.
